Earth Light
Earth Light is a new collection by Nina Brooke, marking a significant evolution in her practice towards a more minimalist aesthetic. As always, nature remains a central influence, but here the approach is deliberately pared back. Muted colours and undefined forms emerge, creating space for a more intuitive exploration of shape, tone and the narratives that emerge between them.
Rooted in feeling and memory, this body of work is less concerned with literal representation and more with the emotional resonance of a place, a moment or an experience. Each piece begins with an internal response, shaped by observation,
recollection and the subtle impressions that linger long after an encounter with a place or experience.
For Nina, Earth Light represents a step out of her comfort zone. Spontaneous, gestural marks meet a restrained, neutral palette to create work that feels light and more open. The result is a fresh and deeply personal collection — an exploration of life, love, landscape and everything in between.

Grounding, rich in depth and earth like qualities. This painting gives the feeling these qualities taken from walking on the muddy footpaths of Cornwalls coast line, paying attention to the ground beneath your feet. When you look closely at this piece you will find dots of red from mixing browns symbolise the root chakra.

Between two places, the feelings and thoughts from leaving one moment and entering another. Focusing on what lies in this period of travel through places, hopeful, lonely, safety, peace comes from being suspended in liminal space.

Agua Viva evokes the quiet space where sea and sky dissolve into one another. Layers of soft, misty color drift across the canvas, blurring the boundaries between water, air, and light. There is a gentle stillness within the painting, an invitation to pause, breathe, and become immersed in the serenity of the natural world. A moment suspended in the mist, where everything feels fluid, weightless, and at peace.

Inspired by walks through muddy fields, this painting captures the feeling of moving through life when things feel messy, uncertain, and unclear. Sweeping marks of deep brown cut across softer, earthy tones, echoing both the mud beneath our feet and the muddle of our minds. A solitary figure moves through the landscape, a quiet reminder that we don’t always need to have everything figured out. Sometimes, there is freedom in embracing the mess, trusting our own pace, and continuing to put one foot in front of the other, even when the path ahead feels uncertain.

Pale Ember . The creamy whites, greys, browns and ochre suggest the feeling of being out at sea between the land and the breaking waves. Large soft brush strokes lead the eye around the canvas. Using dry brush techniques of building up layers of paint, to create excitement and softness.
This painting has a partner called The Deep which can be hung either to the right or the left of. Created with each other in mind they nudge up together to create a larger landscape piece.

Sky Dance shows a white objects floating where sea and sky melt together. Colors are pale and airy, painted with dry brush strokes revealing layers beneath. You feel lifted without being pulled, held without being held back. A lilt of calm runs through it, sun on skin, and quiet water underneath.

Layers of deep greens and shifting blues evoke the water’s subtle rhythms, drawing you into a space between thought and feeling. Inspired by those moments when we pause to watch the waves, it is a reminder that stillness doesn’t have to be found somewhere far away. It can begin in the simplest of moments taking a breath between tasks, stepping outside for fresh air, or allowing yourself a few minutes to do nothing at all. A gentle invitation to slow down, let your thoughts settle, and return to the present moment.

The Deep. Its dark moody teal colour represents the feelings of being above deep water. The question of what’s underneath you as your making your way across the surface. Personal experiences come from being scared, and this painting represents this unknown trying to stay calm feeling. Built with layers and layers of colour, melting into one using wet layers and dry layers to give the painting the depth and presence of this body of water and the emotions it holds.
This painting is twinned with Pale Ember which can be hung either to the right or the left of. Created with each other in mind they nudge up together to create a larger landscape.
