EARTH LIGHT
Earth Light is a new collection by Nina Brooke, marking a significant evolution in her practice towards a more minimalist aesthetic. As always, nature remains a central influence, but here the approach is deliberately pared back. Muted colours and undefined forms emerge, creating space for a more intuitive exploration of shape, tone and the narratives that emerge between them.

Inside a quiet box, faint souls press against soft, blurred borders, like light leaking through fabric. The lines aren’t sharp, because boundaries here are felt more than seen. Each soul bends toward the edge, testing how close it can come, while the box holds them gently, reminding them that freedom still has contours, and every crossing leaves a trace.Inside a quiet box, faint souls press against soft, blurred borders, like light leaking through fabric. Between two places, the feelings and thoughts from leaving one moment and entering another. Focusing on what lies in this period of travel through places, hopeful, lonely, safety, peace comes from being suspended in liminal space.

Inspired by the wild, restless storms of the Cornish coast, this painting captures the raw energy and beautiful chaos of the elements. Chaotic movement, earthy tones, and flashes of light evoke the power of the wind and sea as they collide. There is something deeply human in this wildness a reminder that life, like the weather, can be unpredictable, overwhelming, and beyond our control. By containing this untamed energy within a small canvas, the painting transforms chaos into something intimate and contemplative. It invites you to bring a little of Cornwall’s wild spirit into your home, offering a daily reminder that even in the midst of life’s storms, there is beauty to be found in letting go and learning to embrace the things we cannot tame.
